We met in September of 2000 in the desert. Yes, it's true, at Burning Man. I had long pink and purple braided hair. He was cute, I mean really cute. A mutual friend introduced us because Matt was the lead photographer for Gap Inc. at the time and I had just been hired by Old Navy to work in their Visual Merchandising department as a graphic designer. Little did any of us know, that from that introduction, our lives would be forever changed. But that's just how we met. It isn't the real beginning of our story.
We went on a first date in San Francisco on a Saturday and on Sunday I was in a car accident that would keep me bed-ridden for two months. It seemed like an unlikely way for two people to get to know each other but that's what happened. We spent those two months talking, emailing and watching movies. We found that we had more in common than we could imagine and the next thing we knew, we were falling in love.
Now, two children and all of these years later, we're excited for this new adventure that we're creating for ourselves. We've both been taking pictures for most of our adult lives so it's seems like a natural progression for us to be working together and I can't complain that each time I photograph a wedding with Matt, I'm flooded with love as I remember our own wedding and my saying "I do" to him years ago.
It feels really good to be in this place. To be in love and happy and able to share that, not only with my husband but with the couples that we photograph. With each wedding, we get to take a glimpse back into our past and hopefully others get a glimpse into their future.
