GB Photographers – Wedding Photography Journal – San Francisco bio picture

Welcome to our Photography Journal

We are Garrett Burdick and Matt Reoch. We met 8 years ago knowing that we were both passionate about photography. What we didn't know was how much fun we would have working together. After a few years of collaborating on other projects and seeing that we laughed as much as worked together, we decided to join forces to create GB Photographers. That was back in 2004 and over the past four years we've photographed intimate weddings with 20 guests to extravagant multi-day destination weddings with a guest list in the hundreds.

What we love most is how every event is new and exciting. Photographing two people in love and capturing the details both small and large is an honor. We love telling the story, from getting ready to the friends and family who haven't seen each other in a long time or are just meeting for the first time. From that first kiss as husband and wife to dancing the night away in celebration of that moment.

We love getting to know our couples, laughing, sharing stories, becoming friends and celebrating one of the most important days of their lives.

1st Day of School – Before and After

Today I became a father of a kindergartner. My little boy Mason has started a new adventure. We walked Mason to his first day of school and there is no doubt that he handled it better than Laura and I. On our way out the door, he was greeted by his good friend, Anderson, which helped break the ice a little bit (for us). Mason’s excitement was evident the moment he woke up this morning. Laura and I had butterflies. Why is it that we have more anxiety than our little boy who is about to embark on a long journey of institutional education? Is it that he has no idea what he has just began? Or is it that our little boy is now on his own path, away from mommy and daddy surrounded by new friends and peers? Probably a little of both. A very emotional and significant rite of passage for all of us.

When we went to pick Mason up from school at the end of the day, everything seemed to feel a little more at ease for Laura and I. The day was done and we were greeted by a very happy boy. His day was great, he had fun at recess and he was looking forward to another day of Kindergarten. What a relief! After school, Miles was soo happy to see his older brother. He ran right up to him and gave him a huge hug. Laura and I snapped a few photo’s and told him how proud we were!

School has officially began and we are all OK.
Congratulations Mason on finishing your first day in style!

August 26, 2009 - 11:10 am Matt Reoch - I have to post what Garrett's dad sent to me... it made Laura (and me) cry.

Memories, - look over at his desk- your story is my story,I took that guy down to the bus
so many years ago, seems like yesterday after reading and looking over your excellent photos and words.
Garrett got on the bus like it was an ice cream truck, he did wave from his bus picture window at his Dad
who had tears of plenty on his cheeks.

Garrett looking and waving wearing a big smile as he was off to school. I remember saying to myself,
I am the child here, he is "the man."
Matt - thanks for the memories.
